Homeboy at Home During Coronavirus
First Day of Spring 2021: Coyote Hollow, Thetford Center, VT
After more than a year chronically the doings in my small valley, day after day, I’ve decided to take the weekend off. To recharge, to clean the house, to catch up on chores, to add some new element to my life . . . eventually, to go Colorado to meet my granddaughter. I figured I’d begin my withdrawal from daily postings by freeing up the weekend.
Thank you all for following the seasons through my eyes. I genuinely appreciate your support and enthusiasm. Your comments have been inspirational and educational and have helped fuel my continual postings (even when my spirit & faith faltered). In the earliest days of the pandemic, I began writing each morning to entertain myself. When several people suggested that I post my journal on Substack, I really did not know what a blog was (I’m still not sure I do). The first two drafts of each Substack post appeared on regional birding listservs, first on the Upper Valley Birding Listserv, hosted by Dartmouth College, and then on the Vermont Birding Listserv, hosted by UVM. A shout-out to both for allowing me the space to write and to be read.
See you all on Monday. Go outside; spring has arrived. It’s a vast, fantastic world beyond the pitfalls of human tribulations.
Thank you for your dedicated time of bringing all the layers and textures of life outside no matter the weather that was thrown at you . When I walk now I see things differently since I’ve been reading your observations. I hope your Dogs enjoy the weekend too .
Happy spring, Ted. Enjoy your weekend of spring cleaning. I'm taking your instructions literally and am about to go outside to see if any new birds have arrived in Central Park.
